Stave Puzzles – The World’s Best Jigsaw Puzzles Just Got Better

Posted: February 10th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Audio Slideshows, Design | Tags: , , , | No Comments »

Stave Puzzles of Norwich, Vermont makes the world’s best, most devious and expensive wooden jigsaw puzzles known to man. The genius behind them is Stave’s owner and founder Steve Richardson. I have known him for over 10 years and have worked with on numerous marketing and branding projects.

One of them was this audio slide show (above) about Stave’s new puzzle called The Troublemaker which I shot and put together using Soundslides. It is  the tool of choice for journalists these days who want to make audio slide shows similar to the ones you can see on numerous newspaper websites including the multimedia section of The New York Times. One of their best series is called One in 8 Million about unique New Yorkers. It is fantastic work.

I recorded the sounds with the Marantz PMD 620 digital recorder, a smaller option than their PMD 660 which is the tool of choice these days for journalists recording audio in the field. I edited the sound in GarageBand which is a nice piece of free software on every Apple since it has royalty free music and sound effects.
